Sacramento Real EstateReal Estate has changed... Maureen Dawson Grisso, Broker/Owner of Help-U-Sell of Santa Rosa, is a person who likes happy endings. She came to the real estate field through an artistic and circuitous route. Having started out in the film industry as a television and motion picture actress, she also taught acting, speech and voice at Santa Monica College in Pasadena. Maurine studied music and theater arts at UCLA, filmmaking at USC and ended up with a teaching degree. Developing her entrepreneurial side, she invested in three John Robert Powers franchises and continued to teach and encourage women to be the best they could be. Subsequently, as a trainer for Lifespring, Maurine led personal development seminars and in her spare time and she invested in the Los Angeles real estate market. A transfer with Lifespring brought her to Marin County in 1982. "I had thought about real estate off and on for years," says Grisso, "but I resisted because I didn't like the way real estate was being sold at the time. Shortly thereafter I saw an ad for Help-U-Sell and found that, all the things I hated about real estate, Help-U-Sell's system had an answer for. I decided right then that I would go to work with Help-U-Sell." Within five months, she quit her job, passed her real estate exam, and started at Help-U-Sell with license in hand. She bought her first franchise in April 1983, and now owns three franchises in Santa Rosa. In 1996 Maurine took Floyd Wickman's Sweathog Training. She was so impressed with the results of the training that she went on to become a Trainer for the Floyd Wickman Courses. In 1996 she started working with Help-U-Sell as a Trainer. Combining the Help-U-Sell System with all her teaching background has brought Maurine full circle. When asked, "What's so special about Help-U-Sell?", she replies, "We have a different approach to real estate. The agent comes to Help-U-Sell with a California real estate license and then goes through an extensive six-week counseling program. It's a great education in how to work with people, how to listen, be responsive and strategize so our customer gets what they want. It's a new concept in the industry. We do no prospecting - people come to us. We are counseling-oriented, not sales-oriented. We really find the right match of purchaser and product. We assist through all the steps in the process by offering the full spectrum of real estate services, including financing and warranties.
